Jeff Jackson sure is pretty... LIBERAL.
As of May 2024, Jackson has voted in line with the Democratic Party position 96% of the time. Jackson also overwhelmingly votes in line with politicians like Nancy Pelosi (95% of votes), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (88%), and Ilhan Omar (86%).
Jackson’s radical views on crime and policing would make North Carolina less safe. Jackson has voted against bills that would increase penalties for riot-related offenses, assaults on emergency personnel, and criminal gang activity. In 2021, Jackson supported a bill that would immediately grant voting rights to convicted felons— including murderers and rapists—upon their release from prison.
Since Biden took office in 2021, Jackson has voted against at least a dozen bills and resolutions
addressing illegal immigration and the border crisis. In May 2023, Jackson voted against the Secure the Border Act. The bill would resume construction of the border wall, limit asylum eligibility to ports of entry, require migrants to wait out asylum claims in Mexico, provide grants to Border Patrol, add stiffer penalties for overstaying visas, extend expulsion authority, and more.
In 2023, Jackson voted against a bill to prohibit school athletic programs from allowing biological males
to compete in women’s sports. Jackson has dismissed concerns about women’s sports, calling it the “latest outrage of the moment.”
Jackson believes the NRA is “morally and financially bankrupt” and supports a variety of anti-gun
policies, including “red flag laws” that allow firearms to be taken from individuals without due process.
Jackson voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would require health care workers to attempt to preserve the life of an infant who has survived an attempted abortion.
In 2019, Jackson introduced a bill that would establish millions of dollars in taxpayer financing for political campaigns in North Carolina. A candidate for a statewide executive office other than governor – such as attorney general – would be eligible for $1,375,000 in funding.
